Our History
Kleinburg Christian Academy (KCA), formerly known as Calvary Christian School (CCS) was founded in 1981 to meet the needs of a growing church. The founding families firmly believed that a Christian school education was God’s plan for their child(ren).
The school successfully operated at the church location on Bruce St. in Woodbridge until September 2003. Sometime before, a member of the congregation generously donated a twenty-five acre parcel of land in Vaughan. Plans were set in place to develop the property. The congregation still believed strongly in the value of a Christ-centred school as evidenced by their desire to ensure a proper school facility would be erected on the new site. In fact, much of the building is used as a school facility with the church utilizing the gym area for the worship service on Sundays. The gym is a full-sized facility, in addition to the ten classrooms, a library, a computer lab and a Chapel. These facilities and the school program academically cover Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The present enrolment is 110 students.
During the summer of 2006, in conjunction with the city of Vaughan, work began on developing our playing fields. They were completed in the Spring of 2007. KCA now boasts of two full-sized soccer fields, several other make-shift fields, a baseball diamond, a climbing appartus and a fenced-in playground for JK/SK. In the summer of 2008, a fenced-in playground for our kindergarten students was completed. It includes a shed for toys, pavement, sod and a sandbox. We have recently added tether balls, basketball nets, and pavement games (hopscotch and four-square) to our Junior/Intermediate playground. Our facilities, inside and out, will prove to be a blessing for years to come.
KCA has become an integral ministry of Nashville Road Community Church in Kleinburg, and a symbol of excellence in education. We anticipate continued growth, not simply in the number of students, but rather in our programming and character development of students who attend KCA. Bigger is not necessarily better; better is better and we endeavour to seek to continually improve what a Christian school can offer.
